Peer Review

Service. Quality. Trust.

At LCPA, we take pride in our Peer Review Program. We provide quality service so our members, likewise, can provide quality accounting, auditing, and attestation services. This commitment to quality is important to our members, the profession, and for maintaining public trust.

Our knowledgeable Peer Review Team works with you to better understand the peer review process from enrollment to preparation to review to reporting. We're here to be your advocate and help you ensure that each step is completed efficiently and in compliance with the Standards for Performing & Reporting on Peer Reviews.

General Information

Membership Requirements

The Society of Louisiana CPAs requires all firms engaged in the practice of public accounting performing attest services to enroll in the Peer Review Program.

Firms that do not perform engagements subject to peer review are not required to enroll. Firms are required to notify the Society and immediately enroll in the peer review program upon acceptance of an engagement subject to peer review as defined in the Standards for Performing and Reporting on Peer Reviews.

In accordance with State Board Rules all CPA firms which perform attest services in Louisiana must undergo and complete a peer review at least once every three years.

Title 46, Chapter 15 1503 5a of the State Board Rules also provides that all peer review reports for reviews commencing on or after January 1, 2009 shall be made available to the board via a secure website within 45 days of acceptance. The Society’s Peer Review Committee has established procedures to ensure firms are in compliance with this rule.

Program Administration

The Society charges an administrative fee billable each January to cover expenses related to the administration of the program. All firms subject to peer review will pay the annual fee. The fees are designed to provide a break-even program funding. Firms that are not members of the AICPA or State Society will be subject to additional fees. All other requirements of the program will apply.

Annual Enrollment Fee [1]
  • $395 per year for sole practitioners
  • $530 per year for firms with two to five professionals
  • $665 per year for firms with six to ten professionals

In addition to the annual enrollment fee, the following additional assessments apply as indicated:

  • Firms that perform engagements that require a system[2] peer review are billed an additional $100 annually.
  • Firms that perform “must select”[3] engagements are billed an additional $150 for each must select industry performed by the firm.

[1] Effective January 1, 2020 includes all enrolled firms subject to peer review.

[2] Firms that perform engagements under the SASs or Government Auditing Standards,, examinations under the SSAEs, or engagements under PCAOB standards, as their highest level of service have peer reviews called System Reviews.

Non-Member Fees

The annual enrollment fee for firms without at least one member of either the AICPA or LCPA shall be equivalent of 3 years’ applicable annual enrollment fee in addition to a $750 non-member program fee. The enrollment fee and program fee must be paid prior to enrollment in the peer review program or in the case of an already enrolled firm, prior to scheduling a peer review.
